On-Site Programs

Meet our Stars
(Pre K – 2nd Grade; 30 minutes)

Students will see stars – literally – as they examine live sea stars and learn about other members of the echinoderm family. Also available as an Outreach Program.

Seahorses, Sea Dragons, and Pipefish – Oh My!
(Pre K – 2nd Grade; 30 minutes)

Explore the life of the seahorse through original song and sensory experiences, including puppets, stuffed toys, and specimens. Students will also create – and keep – a diorama of a seahorse habitat that they can enjoy throughout the school year. Also available as an Outreach Program.

Turtle Time
(Pre K – 2nd Grade; 30 minutes)
Can turtles leave their shells? This interactive program answers that question and more through learning activities and tactile experiences. Students meet and touch a live turtle, work with puppets, and explore turtle artifacts. Also available as an Outreach Program.

Loveable Limulus
(4th – 12th Grade; 45 minutes)
Although horseshoe crabs (Limulus polyphemus) may have a face only a mother could love, to know them is to love them. This program will dispel all the myths about horseshoe crabs as dangerous creatures ready to strike out with their venomous tails. Horseshoe "crabs" are completely harmless, and have been for hundreds of millions of years. Once acquainted, these fascinating marine invertebrates will astound your students. Free with a visit to Atlantis Marine World from November through March; regular fee applies all other times. Also available as an Outreach Program.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour
(Pre-K – 12th Grade; 20 – 40 minutes)
Find out what goes on behind the scenes at Atlantis Marine World. Learn how we manage this enclosed ocean, feeding thousands of animals, constantly monitoring water quality, and maintaining our 120,000-gallon shark exhibit. Tour limited to 15 participants. Supplemental program fee applies.

Penguin Pals
(Pre-K – 12th Grade [scaled appropriately to age/grade level]; 20 – 60 minutes)
A bird that flies in water? Explore what makes a penguin unique in the bird world with a visit to our Penguin Pavilion, home of our African penguins.

Primarily Primates
(Pre-K – 12th Grade [scaled appropriately to age/grade level]; 20 – 60 minutes)
Students will enjoy the unique opportunity to create enrichment items, or tactile treats, for our Japanese snow monkeys and observe them as they investigate their new “toys.” The program also compares non-human and human primate anatomy. Inquire about time restrictions.

Crab Lab – Incredible Crustaceans
(Pre-K – 12th Grade [scaled appropriately to age/grade level]; 20 – 60 minutes)
What makes a crustacean a crustacean? Students will learn about these incredible creatures and the ways in which they move and find food or shelter. The program allows students to handle some of the crustaceans in our Touch Tank, as well as meet some of the residents of our Crab Villa. Also available as an Outreach Program.

Elly Jelly’s Adventures
(1st – 3rd Grade; 45 minutes)
Join Elly on her amazing undersea adventures! Stories, puppets, and literacy-based activities help students learn about the wonderful world of sea jellies. Also available as an Outreach Program.

The Seashore/Touch Tank
(1st – 4th Grade; 45 minutes)
The creatures living along our shores come in many different colors and shapes, and this program gives students the chance to meet some of these diverse characters. Also available as an Outreach Program.

Rainforest Reptiles
(2nd – 12th Grade; 20 – 60 minutes)
Take an imaginary journey to the Amazon River and into the forest to learn about this amazing, fragile habitat and the animals that live there. Program includes live reptile. Also available as an Outreach Program.
